SavageRun trolling bait heads
SavageRun bait heads are designed for anglers who use cut baits or meat rig presentations when trolling.
They can be integrated into many different types of rigs. Popular approaches include use with a tandem fly behind an attractor, or directly behind an attractor on a leader. These presentations add natural action, bait scent and a different presence to the trolling display.
They can also be used with certain soft lures, commonly called rubbers by anglers, a very popular approach to varying the action, profile and presence of the rig.
Leader length and attractor size vary according to the angler’s style, conditions and desired presentation. As a rule of thumb, many anglers position the bait head about 6 feet behind the attractor. A shorter distance may be preferable behind an attractor smaller than 8.5 inches, especially for lighter presentations.
This presentation is often used deeper in the water column, generally around 80 feet and deeper, where baited rigs can be very effective. But don’t limit yourself to this. Depending on the time of year, weather conditions, light levels and fish behaviour during the day, a bait head can also produce excellent results higher in the water column.
This type of presentation is particularly popular for targeting salmon, trout and Great Lakes salmonids, especially when fish respond better to a natural, scented or larger presentation.
Some SavageRun models with glow finish offer enhanced visibility in low-light conditions, such as early morning, in deep water, on overcast days or when the water is tinted.
Sold in packs of 2 heads.
